Charly and I left for church about 9am. (Mark comes later with the other two) We get there a little early just in case there actually is any kids that show up for nursery. Charly usually helps Kathy get the Sunday school stuff together. And I drink my coffee and open up the nursery. Since there usually isn't any kids in the nursery during Sunday school, I just take that time to read, study, or meditate.
Now, during church there was about nine kids in nursery (our 3, plus 6 more), which is the most I have had so far. It was a big Sunday because it was hanging of the greens and also Odena Hanson's 90th birthday! So, the sanctuary was pretty full. The kids did great though and actually all played really well together. It is a lot of fun watching them all interact.
After church we all went home and had some turkey leftovers and Peyten went down for a much needed nap.
Then I got in the Christmas mood and decided to put up the Christmas tree. Charly and Aydan helped me put it up and then we got all the ornaments on it. The kids had a lot of fun with it. They enjoyed looking at each ornament and asking about what some of them said, etc. Aydan got to put the angel on the top of the tree this year. Afterward they made sure we turned off all the lights so they could see the lights better.
Peyten was up by this time and we just did some more relaxing. Mark took off to go watch the Bears at his friend's house. Aydan was sitting on my lap in the living room and then all of a sudden he said he was tired. I said "do you want to go lay down in the blue room?" He said "no, I am just going to sleep on the chair." So, he got down, grabbed a pillow and blanket. Got himself comfy in the recliner and within a minute he was out. I guess he was really tired! Shortly after that, Charly fell asleep next to Dan on the couch.
I took the opportunity to have some special time with Peyten, so we went in the bedroom and laid in bed and read some stories. She laid with me for a while before she got antsy and started exploring.
Then I got an itch to do a little cleaning. The "closet" that we have for the kids is a free standing one that has a plastic outer part. Well, the whole thing is a bit old and the plastic is ripping and falling apart. The whole thing is a bit of a pain in the rear. So, I pulled it out from the wall and finally cleaned up the book from behind Peyten's crib...that she had shredded to pieces....yeah. And the "closet", I figured out how to get the plastic off, so now it is just basically a free standing metal rod. And I was able to clean up some of the stuff I had in the closet and was able to put their two drawer dresser underneath it. It turned out that taking the plastic off, saved me even more space. And not having it on there really opened the room up. We have so much stuff in there, the room needs all the help it can get. :)
By the time I was done in there...and got the rest of the kids clean clothes put away, Garry and Cindy had ordered a pizza for everyone. We all sat down at the table to eat and the kids scarfed a bunch down. They always like Gala-T-Inn pizza. Even though lately it has been pretty spicy...the kids don't complain, which surprises me, because it really does have quite a kick!
With our bellies full, we decided we would watch a Christmas movie downstairs. They wanted to watch a Christmas movie, with the lights off, and the tree lights on. :) So, we watched a Fruitcake Christmas...and Peyten kept messing with the ornaments on the tree.
Now, we are winding down for the night and the kids will hit the hay soon. After they are in bed, I may hop on the treadmill. I should, I am long overdue!
Great family day. Garry, Cindy, Dana, Dan, Mark, Charly, Aydan, and Peyten. Very grateful for them all!
Well, the kids ended up staying up a little later because we let them have turns with the guitar singing songs. Here is one of the videos:
And Charly came up with a song that goes like this:
"Rock and roll, rock rock rock!
Rock and roll to the beat!
Knock your socks off your feet!"
And now it is 9:20 and nope, I am not getting on the treadmill. I have some work to get done before heading to bed.
